Debtor / Creditor.

Both creditors and debtors have options during the collections process. Following the correct procedures is vital, however, and you will need proper advice. We can put you on an informed path so that you understand your options and know best how to handle your situation.
While there are laws in place to protect debtors, steps toward collecting do not have to be complex. An experienced attorney knows how to navigate the collections processes. At Rountree Leitman & Klein LLC, we offer personalized legal counsel to both debtors and creditors and have a wide array of experience and knowledge in financial legal matters.

Judgments

Persons or businesses that are owed a debt may be entitled to recover a judgment against another individual or business. We help you through that process from filing the complaint, litigating any outstanding issues, and ultimately obtaining the judgment. We have also handled appeals in various jurisdictions including the Georgia Court of Appeals, Georgia Supreme Court, and 11th Circuit Court of Appeals.

Collections

A judgment is effectively a piece of paper. Once you have a judgment, the next step is to collect on it. This entails various processes, including levying on assets, garnishing bank accounts, garnishing employers, and post judgment discovery of assets. Our attorneys handle these types of matters on a daily basis and we are here to assist you in that process.

Foreclosures and Evictions

Georgia allows both non-judicial and judicial foreclosure sales of real property. Non-judicial foreclosure sales are more common and our attorneys have handled several hundred of such sales. The process is intricate and requires adherence to the Georgia Code, as well as federal statutes such as the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. Evictions must be filed in order to evict a tenant or person remaining in the property after a foreclosure sale. Our attorneys have handled hundreds of evictions in courts throughout Georgia.

We Are Ready to Help You

Our seasoned attorneys will provide knowledgeable counsel to you regardless of what side you are on in the collections claims process — creditor or debtor. We handle claims from the demand through post-judgment stages, including filing of garnishments, conducting post-judgment discovery and levy on assets.

Our Clients Come First

We want our clients to succeed and that is our ultimate goal when handling a collections matter for you.
